Maybe the 3rd Time will be the Charm
So, on January 15th Brenner had surgery scheduled to remove this dermoid cyst from above his right eye. To make a long story short, the surgery was cancelled because of a bad blood test that they took that morning.
Today, Brenner was scheduled for surgery again. The surgery was cancelled because he was too sick and they can get pneumonia from the anesthesia if they are sick. So, we'll reschedule and hope that the 3rd time is the charm!

Husband Tag
I'm not going to make anyone do this, but I thought it would be fun.
What is his name? Ryan... like so many other guys out there!
How long have you been married? 12 Years in June!
How long did you date? Including our engagement about 10 months.
Who eats more sweets? Anisa
Who said I love you first? Ryan
Who is taller? Duh!
Who can sing better? Neither of us can sing:(
Who is smarter? Anisa got better grades in school, but have you ever met Ryan? The man can pick up an instruction manual, read it from cover to cover and then know everything about the gadget and how it works!
Who does the laundry? I get it all washed. But Ryan carries it downstairs and upstairs and often times folds the whites!
Who pays the bills? Anisa (although I don't make any money, I like to spend Ryan's money).

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Ryan
Who mows the lawn? Ryan, but Anisa does most of the other yard work.
Who cooks dinner? Well, Anne on Monday, Mary Lee on Tuesday, Laura on Wednesday, Anisa on Thursday and Julie on Friday. Some restaurant on Saturday and Lucas and Anisa alternate Sundays. Ryan will cook breakfast on the weekends.
Who drives? We both do.... I'm not like my grandpa who didn't get a driver's license.

Who is more stubborn? Do I need to answer that? If you know me at all, you know it's me.
Who kissed who first? Ryan kissed me, of course.
Who asked who out first? I think I asked him on some group date first. It took the missionaries to make him ask me out.
Who proposed? Ryan
Who has more siblings? Duh! Ryan.

Scholes Look-alike Meter
This was a fun site. I have always thought Joren looked like my side of the family

I still think that Brenner is a Ryan look-alike. I guess he has some of my features, but I still think he looks more like Ryan.

Rain or shine- St. George is still nice in February!
Let me preface this by saying, "I know it's going to snow on us on the way home tomorrow."
So, every year in February we head to St. George (we're down here a lot more than that because both of our parents live down here). Ryan has a conference for work down here every February. Usually it's really nice weather. We've had a little rain, but we're still not complaining. We've only needed a light jacket, if that. We have taken the boys to the indoor pool every day so far. It is sooo nice. The water temperature is almost 90 degrees. The boys will stay in the pool for nearly 3 hours and still throw a fit when we tell them it's time to get out!
We've also been able to go to the Parade of Homes. If you have never been to the Parade of Homes in St. George, you don't know what you are missing. The houses are the most amazing houses you will ever see. The yards are always fun with swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. They have a lot of indoor/outdoor living environments.
Joren woke up the first morning we were here and wanted to go outside and swing. He has done that several times since we've been here. We also got to go to the farm and feed and name the baby cows. They are all girls, so we named them my little pony names (thanks to Ella) and various other girl names from cartoons. We even named one Sapphire because the Blue Power Ranger is the Blue Sapphire.
We have been having fun and are sad and excited to go home tomorrow and pack some more so we can move into our new house!

Anal, OCD, or just organized!
If any of you out there think that I am somewhat organized at times, or maybe a little anal or OCD about a few things, you haven't seen anything! This is how "organized" my mother is. She has all of my brother's old legos organized in ziploc baggies. They are organized by color. Then they are organized by type... all the tires in one bag, all the steering wheels in one bag, all the trees in one bag... you see where this is going. It scares me to death to let my kids play with them for fear I won't be able to get them back in the proper bags!

Tag!
Okay, I will do my tag... if I must. Usually I'm like my mom and won't do these kinds of things, but I have had a lot of fun reading others and feel that I would be a hypocrite if I did not do my tag.
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
10 Years Ago: Let's see.... 1998. I was teaching French, Chemistry and yearbook at Dixie High School. Ryan and I had been married for a year and a half and so we must have been living at Sunset Springs. We were probably in the process of buying our first town home.
5 Things on my To-Do List today: Call and switch over utilities, pack, catch up on my blog, pack, entertain the kids.
Snacks I enjoy: Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwiches, Popcorn, Cookies, Ruffles w/dill pickle dip, Saltines in a bowl of milk, etc.
Things I would do if I were a billionaire: Pay tithing, put money in the bank for missions, college, weddings, etc., Buy mom a new house and all nice furnishings, buy dad a nice ranch in the lush, green mountains, buy myself a new, bigger house, hire a nanny, hire a housekeeper, hire a chef, etc., buy Ry expensive toys, the list goes on. Of course we would invest a lot of it and save a lot. I can't break it down and do the math.
3 of my bad habits: Nagging, yelling at my kids, not cleaning the house... there are way more than 3.
5 places I have lived: Santa Clara, Cedar City, St. George, Holladay, South Jordan (sorry only 4)
5 jobs I have had: Day care, tutor, janitor, teacher, MOM!
5 things people don't know about me: If they don't know them, I'm not going to tell them.
Tag.... Cami, Jessica, Melissa, Kirsten, Sally.
Tub Fun!
My boys love to play in the tub! It's more like they love to play in the water and since they can't go swimming in the winter this is their chance to play in the water. They prefer mommy's big tub and they love to get water ALL over the bathroom. We pretty much have to mop the floor and wipe down all the walls when they are done.
(Sorry, no pics of Joren. He won't sit down in the tub, so they were too pornographic.)

Mr. Independent
Let me first preface this by saying, "Yes, Mom, I know he got this from me."
Joren is so Mr. Independent. As we're sitting in the kitchen doing whatever, he starts to push the chair clear across the room (never mind the chair that is closest to the counter).
He then climbs up on the counter top and proceeds to eat every last hershey kiss (that we have left over from Christmas.) There is no, "Mom, can I have some candy." He just sets his mind to it and goes and does what he wants. In Joren's defense. If he did ask for candy, I would tell him, "No." To which his response would be. "you hab to."

Moving Date
All ye gluttens for punishment... we will be moving all of our big stuff (stuff that Ryan can't move by himself) on Saturday, March 8th. If anyone is willing to help, we'd love to have you. For those of you out of town, you're more than welcome to stay at either of our houses, but bring an air mattress. We'll feed you, entertain you and take good care of you!!!

And the snow begins to melt...
Now, I know that it's going to snow again this week. But, it was just nice to be able to actually walk outside. The kids really enjoyed spashing in the water that is accumulating from the melting snow in our driveway. (And I actually let them get soaking wet.)
We went for a walk with Joren in the stroller and Brenner riding his bike. We went to the park and played on the playground. I have been yearning to go outside and it was actually above 40 today. I don't ask for much... I'm not asking for 50 or 60. I just want it to be warm enough that we can actually go outside.

Pics of the new house
Crazy Scholes' Boy Fun!
Whenever Ry's parents are in town, there must be a plan to keep us together, busy and having fun all day long.
We had Zackary's baptism in the morning. Lunch after at Mark & Kerri's with the whole fam. Then an afternoon of 4-wheeling/sledding fun. And dinner at Brick Oven.
Of course I only have pics of the fun stuff, so here they are. If you can believe it (if you know how roudy Ry and his brothers are), we only had one minor injury (poor Mikelle).

Mason loved learning how to drive the 4-wheeler.
Anisa and Brenner even tried the sled for a minute (by the way, this is a great stomache workout- especially when you're behind Mason who can't keep the 4-wheeler going at an even pace). I decided this wasn't so good for my pregnant body.

"Hab to"
We have this little two year old in our house who thinks he's the boss! Our favorite thing lately is "hab to." He wants us to give him some more gum and we say, "no." He says, "hab to." He wants candy and we say, "no." He says, "hab to." We keep trying to tell him that we don't have to do anything that we don't want to do!

The Snow that Cancelled Church!
I don't know if anyone else in the Salt Lake Valley was as fortunate (or unfortunate) as us this morning, but we got about 5 calls around 8:30 saying they were cancelling church. The wind was blowing the snow around like crazy and we probably got a foot of snow. Anyway, so we've been laying around being lazy all day! This afternoon the kids went out with Ryan to shovel the drive way and play in the snow.

The Animal Game
We have this game that we play in the car called "The Animal Game." Basically you say, "I'm thinking of an animal that lives in the ocean, is really big, has a big tail that splashes water and has a spout that shoots water out of it's back." And the people playing have to guess what it is. We have had so much fun playing this with Brenner. He is really good at guessing and he is also really good at giving the clues. Now Joren likes to play. This is his version, "animal, brown, roar." Of course we guess a bear, but it doesn't really matter what we guess, he always says we are right. It's just really fun that they are growing up so fast and learning things so quickly. Tonight, Brenner's clue was, "It's blue with spots and paws." It was Blue (from Blue's clue's) of course, but we thought that was very creative of him.

There is a bun in the oven!
Sometimes you can take 2 pregnancy tests and still wonder if you really are pregnant. I guess mainly it's because I don't get sick. Anyway, I went in for my first appointment today and there is a little baby in there. I could see his heart beating and he was even wildly flailing his little arms about (I was hoping for a mellow one this time.) Thankfully there was only one in there since Brenner wants a baby sister and a baby brother. (By the way, when I told him there was only one baby, he would prefer a baby sister like Legacy.) All seems to be going well and my doctor said she'll take the baby the last or 2nd to the last week of August!
(This is not my actual picture. The little portable ultrasound machine was out of paper.)
Our Floor Plan
Here is our floor plan. We have all of the optional stuff.
On the main floor we will have a living room and an office. Then the 1/2 bath, kitchen, great room, nook, laundry room and garage. Off the family room is the library (that will be our play room). Upstairs is a bedroom for Brenner and Joren to share and one for the baby. I asked Brenner is he wanted to share with Joren and he did. They each have their own closet. They have a bathroom. Then there is the master bedroom with master bath. In the basement we will have what Ryan is calling an X-box room. I think it is Wii room. Mom (and any other guests) have their guest bedroom. The room under the playroom is officially my scrapbook/craft/sewing room. It also has a full bath downstairs. The back side of everything is a huge storage room (one that that this house was really lacking). I think that having the basement finished- especially with a guest room and a scrapbook room, was the kicker for us picking this house. Oh, and the play room off the great room. There are a few things we would like to be a little bigger or different, but for the most part, this house is perfect!
Brenner has already picked out a new toy for the playroom. And hopefully our back yard is big enough for a play set and sand box as well.
We are in a new construction area, so there is still a lot left to do. There aren't any houses behind us yet so we're going to have to deal with the construction for a while. There will be a park just kiddie corner from us. There is also a park about a block away. The swimming pool (under construction) will be 2 blocks away. The elementary school is about 2 1/2 blocks away. It's about 2 1/2 blocks to the lake and about 1 1/2 block to a proposed church site. We will be able to walk everywhere in this neighborhood.
To get to our new house... coming west on 104th south, you will go straight through the light at the Holiday (instead of turning left). You will turn left on Topview Road and left on Iron Mountain Drive. Our house is 4399 W. Iron Mountain Drive.
Now, after all is said and done... we have put money down, but we are signing the final papers and going over the contract tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed for us.
