Kindergarten Testing

Brenner had his kindergarten testing last week. He is one smart little cookie! He is reading on a level L which is apparently about 2nd grade level!

This is a paper that his teacher had him do. I'm not sure which name looks better!

He's getting lazy in his old age... he just hurries through his work and doesn't try to do a good job! We must work on that!

The cars shoes

Joren loves his cars shoes. We've always wondered what would happen when he outgrows them or when they are so worn that they will no longer stay on his feet. His new scooter has taken its toll on the shoes. The right one is quite worn because that's the one that goes on the ground when he's on his scooter... and he uses it as the brake as well.Ryan took him to Target to get some new shoes... these are what he came home with!
We went from one bright pair to another! He loves them both and will still wear the cars ones when he can't find the blue ones... oh my!

Just like his Mom!

I hated sports. I don't remember playing anything but softball, but I do remember sitting out in the field biting my nails because I was so nervous the ball was going to come to me and I would miss it or screw something up... I really didn't like the pressure.

I don't want to force my kids into anything, but I want them to have every opportunity. So, we've let them play soccer or whatever they choose. Brenner wants to play, but he's not super aggressive... and will often be found out on the field chewing his nails.

It will be interesting to see what talents and hobbies our kids pick up as the get older!!!

My Job... it's a Love/Hate Relationship

So, most people that read my blog know about my job. I just thought it would be fun to post more details about my job.

Why I hate my job:

  • I'm spoiled and I don't like that I have to miss out on stuff to work.
  • I have a hard time doing anything for 6 hours straight.
  • I don't like that I am a sales person... I get written up if I don't make the correct amount of sales or sale enough up-sales, etc. etc.
  • We have trainings on Wednesdays a lot during the day. I have to find babysitters for my kids and drive 30 minutes each way to go to the training.... I just hate them.
  • I have mandatory hours on the weekends during the day so I'm working a lot on Saturdays and Sundays and it interferes with yard saleing, yard work, fun, etc. etc.
  • My kids are going to bed late at night.... it's totally thrown our routine off.
  • We are all sleeping in, or at least trying to. I can't get up the energy in the morning to work out.... plus I snack a lot at night. I hope I don't gain too much weight.
  • Wow, I didn't realize the list was so long.
Why I like my job:

  • I get a break from the kids.
  • I don't have to put the kids to bed.
  • I can scrapbook, craft, sew, play on the computer, blog, etc. etc. while I'm working.
  • I give myself a weekly pedicure.
  • It's extra money we need.
  • I work from home.
  • I wear my pajamas to work.
  • I don't have driving time to and from work.
  • Wow, I guess there are pros.
And last but not least, a few funny/disturbing stores.

  • I cute old lady called me one night because her TV had frozen and the infomercial phone # was on the TV so she called me to fix her TV. The channels wouldn't change and the tv wouldn't turn off. I told her to unplug her TV and that seemed to fix the problem. I'm a tv fix it person.
  • I had a lady who called and was on the phone with me for 20ish minutes. She went to the bathroom while on the phone, flushed the toilet, got a drink, etc.
  • I had a man who wouldn't buy the warranty on something because he was going to die from cancer so the warranty wouldn't do him any good. We ended up talking for awhile about my mom as well and he gave me a website with cancer fighting strategies.
  • Love the drunk, stupid teenager prank calls. Don't like the gross pervert prank calls.
I'm hoping to be able to quit mid-June sometime. But tonight when I was giving myself a pedicure I was thinking that I'm going to miss a few things... when will I make time to give myself a pedicure again???

Getting so Smart

Just wanted to post a little bit about Joren. He has learned so much this year at preschool and he is always surprising me. He made me this little card. If you can't tell, he wrote "mom" on it. He spelled it himself. He's really good at knowing most of his letters and the sounds that they make. And apparently he can put letters together to make some words!!!

This picture didn't scan very well, but it's really cute. It's a picture of a Pokemon he drew for Brenner. He wrote his name on there... and I think all he knows of Brenner's name is the B.
It's fun to see him learning and it will be fun to have him reading... I need to get working on that with him.

Basketball Star!!!

This crazy kid LOVES to play basketball! He wants to go outside in the rain so he can play. I send him out in the back yard and he'll play for an hour... well almost!

I think I need to get a hoop in the house as well... this kid just really loves to throw balls!

Happy Birthday to Brenner

I know he's a big boy and he's in Kindergarten, but he's 6! He's not a toddler any more... at all.

He wanted to have multiple parties... it's not about just one day any more. Since we had his party on Saturday, we thought we'd take him somewhere fun... rather than have him sit at home and play on the computer while I do laundry and clean.

So, we headed off to Chuck-E-Cheese's... his choice.

We waited for Daddy to get home from work to open his presents.
It was quite the difficult task to keep Terek from opening all of his presents. He was sweet to let Terek and Joren open them as long as he could watch them and they didn't open them all at the same time.
He took cookies to his class today and we had cupcakes for his birthday dessert. (All made by Harmon's... not lazy mom. We had his fancy cake made by Jacinda for his party.)
He was super excited for all of his presents. Happy 6th Birthday, Brenner!!!

Brenner's 6th Birthday Party

Today was the big day of Brenner's Birthday party!
He wanted a pool party with a 3-D cake with a surfer on it.
He picked out his plates, balloons, etc.
He had tons of fun with his friends in the pool.... the funny thing was that he was the first person out of the pool and took off from his party early to go home with Lucas & Shellie. He was so anxious to play with all of his new presents. What I should have taken pictures of was the huge mess he made in the office with all of his new stuff!!!

His birthday is actually on Monday. Hopefully I can come up with something fun for him to do!!!

It's About Time!!!

I've been telling Brenner for quite some time that it's time he learns how to ride a bike! He is old enough to be embarrassed that he can't ride a bike without training wheels but still too scared to try to ride it. He got a scooter for Easter and he has no problem balancing on it. I've been telling him that if he can ride and balance on the scooter, he can ride his bike. So, today he was riding his scooter down our short slanted driveway. So, I grabbed a small old bike that we had taken the pedals off of so that they could just sit and coast on it. He did that a couple of times and realized that he really could do it. So, with the encouragement of our neighbors that assured him they used to have training wheels on their bikes too, we took off the training wheels! All I had to do was get him started and he was off!!!

Wow! How nice will this be!!!
Now we just need to teach him h0w to start and stop on his own and how to better handle the corners!
He just needed a little encouragement from friends... and a nice, warm day.

Now, it's Joren's turn!!!
