He finally did it!!!

Legacy is now 7 months old. Can you believe that? Joren loves that girl so much. He always wants to hold her. And he also wants her to hold him- he tries to sit on her lap. Yesterday they were giving each other big juicy kisses (with tongue). But, the big news is that we finally got a picture of Brenner holding Legacy!!! It only took him 7 months to warm up to the idea. (And I think the only reason he did it was because his friend Cailin was over and he wanted to show her this cute baby girl that she was fascinated with).

Weekend Getaway

So, I must first admit that I am a sinner. Today was our regional conference. This was in place of Stake Conference. So, they had this regional conference at the Conference Center. They were not going to be broadcasting it at the churches or stake centers. We would have had to be at the conference center at 9:00 am to get in line for the 10:00 conference. Now, the idea of getting my children up that early and waiting outside or inside and sitting through 2 hours of church in the conference center with my children, who couldn't have snacks, did not sound fun to me. However, staying at our home ALL day on Sunday and making the house a huge mess, didn't sound too fun to me either. And the option of going to St. George didn't sound too fun because we were just down there two weeks ago. So, we opted for a trip up to Midway/Heber. Ryan suggested camping and 4-wheeling. That all sounded fun, but I insisted on a hotel seeing how it is practically winter and we would freeze to death in a tent. So, that is what we did. We headed up Saturday afternoon. We just kind of went sight seeing, ate out, and swam and hung out at our pool. It was snowing so we couldn't really go 4-wheeling. However, this morning was quite beautiful. We had fun and didn't get TOO cold, but it was a kind of quick ride. It was quite cold. We think a little getaway like this for one night was really the way to go. Our house didn't get too messy (but you should have seen the hotel room!)

The Beauty of Fall

Brenner has learned about fall in his preschool class and is actually quite excited to see the leaves turning colors and falling off the trees. I asked him if he wanted to go to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens to see all the fall leaves. He said he did, so off we went. I actually had cash in my possession, so I bribed him and told him that I would give him $1 to buy candy out of the candy machines if he would be really good for some pictures. He was very excited about that. Of course, Joren got the same bribe and was very excited to get some money. So, here's what we got. Isn't fall beautiful? It was so nice today. It was just a little breezy, but quite warm.

It is sooo cold!

Today is truly a fall day. The leaves are really turning colors and falling off the trees. And it's quite cold. I actully turned my furnace on because it was only 63 degrees in my house and I was feeling a little chilly. Brenner, however, still wants to play outside in the sand pile... without shoes and socks on. It just takes too much time and work to put those shoes and socks on. I hope he doesn't get too sick.

Pumpkin Carving

We had a Scholes family Halloween Party on Saturday. It was fun to actually carve pumpkins. Joren was all about sticking his hands in the pumpkin guts. And both of them just wanted to stab the pumpkin with sharp objects all the time. Lots of fun!!!

Scarecrow Festival

For playgroup this week, we went to the Scarecrow Festival. It's a huge fundraiser for the Westridge Academy (a school for delinquent teens). Anyway, they have ...

Games- Brenner loved to play the games and so did Joren. Brenner is getting pretty good at stuff like this. Sorry no pics of Joren, but I was always helping him play the games.

Bouncy houses with Slides- You would be amazed if you saw Brenner on these. 6 months ago he wouldn't go in them without me. Now he's crazy. He loved the huge shark one where you slid down inside the shark's tummy. My little boy is growing up. Joren, on the other hand, wouldn't even go in the toddler ones. And he was scared to death to just look at the shark on and other things that have to do with Halloween. He's such a little scaredy cat!!!

A fun fish pond with prizes- as you can see, we got some cool masks, funky fingers and other annoying toys, but it was still tons of fun.

What to do?

It's 3:30 on a Friday afternoon and my kids are sound asleep. I may have 1-2 good hours by myself. What should I do? Here are my options.
a. fold the huge overflowing basket full of laundry
b. sweep the kitchen floor (it still has corn on it from Joren's dinner last night)
c. blog
d. read
e. scrapbook
f. iron the clothes that have been sitting on the ironing board for a month
g. take a nap
h. lock the doors and go to the mall (I would never do that, but I'm mostly in the mood to shop)
i. yardwork (what ever fall clean up I can get done now will save me some time in the spring)
j. prepare my nursery lesson (what difference does it make they are only 18 months old)
k. prepare Brenner's Joyschool lesson for Monday.

OK, I think I should try to at least do B & K and then I'll probably do E. Of course I'm doing C right now, but come on, maybe Ryan could do A and I just don't want to do any of the other things.

Playtime with Joren

So, Brenner is in two preschools. One on Monday and Wednesday mornings and one on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I love the afternoon because Joren naps and I can get stuff done at home. I told myself that on the mornings I would do fun things with Joren like take him to the reading time at the library and such. So far, Joren has gone shopping with me almost every time. The Mon/Wed preschool is a joyschool where I have to teach every six weeks. So, when I teach, my friend Cheri takes Joren. When she teaches, I take her little boy, Tyler. Since I got to watch Tyler this week, I actually took the boys to do something fun. Monday we went to the Library reading time and today we went to the Gale Center (it is a museum of the history of South Jordan with an interactive school house, house and yard, store, etc.... really fun). It was fun for Joren to have a friend and fun for him to be able to play. Joren is so sad that he doesn't get to go to preschool, so this was really fun for him. Next week, I get to teach and Joren gets to go to Tyler's house to play. I think he will have tons of fun.

When the kids are quiet.

Sometimes when the kids are quiet, it's a good thing. Brenner will often go outside and play in the sandbox. He never tells me and I usually have a hard time finding him. But, he's playing quietly by himself. Joren was outside by himself yesterday playing and being quiet. He was riding the turtle and playing in the dirt and with the leaves. I love it when they can entertain themselves.

My baby loves babies!!!

My baby boy loves babies. Whenever we are at nursery or girl friends' houses or cousins' houses or where ever there is a baby doll he finds it. He loves to hold them and feed them and wrap them up in blankets. And of course, he loves baby Legacy the most. He loves to hold her and kiss her. Mommy thinks Santa should bring him a doll for Christmas, but Daddy disagrees. The thing is that Brenner doesn't like dolls and this would be one toy that they wouldn't fight over. Maybe Grandma or someone else could risk the wrath of Daddy and get Joren a doll with accessories for Christmas.

Class Leader

Brenner got to be the class leader at Miss Amee's yesterday. He got to be the helper with a lot of stuff like weather bear and calendar and shapes and colors and ABC's and he got to bring snacks. We were supposed to bring a healthy snack that was pink so we brought yogurt. Here he is with the treat bucket.

Touting my own Horn

I'm not usually one to tout my own horn, but I worked hard for this. I saved one pair of my fat pants. I hope to never need these ever again, but they are a good reminder and will be fun to put on once in a while. I bought these when I was first pregnant with Joren and I needed drawstring pants.

So, here I am now and I hope to stay this way for a long time. (Pictures taken by Brenner)

Sadly, though, I still see myself as overweight, but can not believe that I was ever that big. I think our eyes deceive us sometimes.

Halloween Portraits!!!

It's amazing that my kids can be so cute. They drove me crazy trying to get these taken, but they look great!!!

21 month old

This is also what happens when you leave a 21 month old unsupervised!!! Does anyone want to borrow a 21 month old?

When the kids are being quiet!!!

Last night when Ryan and I were still eating dinner, the kids had gone into Brenner's room and it was really quiet. So, we asked ourselves..."What are they up to?" Trying to decide if we should go see what mess they were making or just enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet, we finished up our dinner. It turns out they were hiding in the closet waiting for us to come and find them. Kind of sad in a way that their parents never came looking for them. However, this morning, Joren wanted some popcorn (and of course he had to eat it in the family room). So, I sent him downstairs and stayed upstairs to pack for St. George. It was once again... quiet. I thought to myself... "he's just down there eating the popcorn and watching tv." This is what happens when a 21 month old is left alone with popcorn.

Most of the time when they are quiet they are making a mess. So, now I have to vacuum the family room, still pack, keep washing puked on clothes and sheets (yes, Joren kept me up sick all night last night... but seems perfectly fine and quite hyper this morning), clean up the house, keep the kids from killing each other, etc. etc. before we go to St. George today.

Pumpkin Patch

It's our favorite time of year. We love fall!!! Brenner has been wanting to go to the pumpkin patch. We tried to go last week but it wasn't open yet. Then we tried to go on Saturday, but it was raining. So, we went last night (before the rain came). Brenner picked out a big pumpkin and we came home and poked Mr. Potato head pieces into it to decorate it. They had a little corn maze. They also had tractors the kids could sit on. It was really fun. We could have stayed all night, but it was getting dark and starting to rain.

Bowling!!!

Ryan went bowling for an Elder's Quorum party this past week. Apparantly he got some great scores!!! So, since it was rainy and snowy all day on Saturday, we thought we would go bowling with the kids. Despite the fact that it cost our little family of 4 $27 to bowl, we had a lot of fun. They have a fun ramp that the kids can push the ball down. They looked so cute in their bowling shoes.

Sticky Tongue!!

We had a field trip to Thanksgiving Point Farm for Brenner's preschool. He loves to buy the corn to feed to the ducks and the goats. He actually let the goats lick the corn out of his hand this time!!! It looks like it took a lot of concentration!!!
