Thanksgiving Weekend!

Wow! What a totally busy and fun weekend!

We woke up Thanksgiving morning to smoke alarms going off (thanks to my dad lighting a fire in the stove for the first time)... my kids are petrified of smoke alarms, so we headed out of the house to find donuts at the local market. On our way, we got a text from Logan saying the leaves had finally fallen off the tree and we could come and rake them! The boys had been waiting for the chance to finally rake the leaves in St. George.
Brenner was the most dedicated... he didn't care how cold it was, he wanted a pile as huge as himself to jump in!
Terek got a little cold and preferred to snuggle with Sydney in a blanket most of the time. Joren preferred to stay in the house downstairs by the fire where it was much warmer.
Logan and Sydney even jumped in the leaves with the kids.
That afternoon we headed to Kanarraville for Thanksgiving dinner. The kids were way excited to finally play in the snow... talk about two seasons in one day!
It was cold outside and the snow was too powdery to make a snowman, but they still had fun.

Thanksgiving dinner was yummy as usual, but its not about the food... its about spending time with family. We had tons of fun doing a white elephant exchange and playing "Do you love your neighbor."
Joren loved baby Peyton... and she seemed to like him! He loved to hold her and he loved crawling around on the floor with her. We are sad to see her family move to New Mexico but we are excited that they have found a great job there!
We spent the night in cold Kanarraville then headed up North. We stopped in Draper and met up with some of Ryan's family to go to Incredible Pizza for food and fun!
The boys always love the games!
Then we headed up to Park City to meet Lucas, Shellie and Legacy for the night. We stayed at a hotel and went swimming! We went out to dinner and got a little shopping in.

Then we rushed down to Spanish Fork to hang out with Ry's family for pizza and snacks... and we got to make Gingerbread houses.

We headed home early Saturday evening for fear of being caught in a snow storm.

Wow! We went everywhere and did everything! It was tons of fun and we got to see most of our family.

Now it's time to get ready for Christmas!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

This past weekend we went to the Jubilee of Trees. It's a good way to get us in the mood for Christmas. We had a bunch of cousins down for the weekend to support Grandma Rose with the Jubilee. (For more details about the Jubilee, visit my craft blog.)

Grandma took us to the Teddy Bear Picnic. The kids really enjoyed the entertainment and they loved the characters!
We even got to get our Christmas wish lists in early to Santa!!!

My new Job

So, I got a new job a couple of weeks ago. My official title is the "At-Risk Assistant" at Snow Canyon Middle School. Basically, a few students get the privilege of taking Study Skills... a class where you get to just do homework. So, I teach 3 study skills classes a day. I get to be the baby-sitter/mom of a bunch of teenagers. I email their teachers to get work, I yell at them when they don't get their work done... its super fun! And when they are all quietly working, I get to play on the computer and read and cut coupons.... it's great!
Pros:
  • I really do like this job. I like teaching and I have a great bunch of kids!
  • It gets me back into education... I'm getting my foot in the door. I'm working on renewing my license and I'm hoping to find a part time teaching job next year.
  • I don't work weekends and I always have the same vacations as the kids.
  • I don't work nights... I get to snuggle with my kids when it's time to go to sleep.
  • I have a routine... I get up and exercise (most days), get the kids ready for school, etc.
  • The kids get to stay home with Ryan and Grandma.
Cons:
  • I miss my kids. I work from when I drop Brenner off at school (and MWF Joren off at preschool) until about 3:00.
  • I don't have as much time to get projects done... but I have plenty of time to think about them and write lists of what I want to get done:)
  • I don't get paid much:( but I do get paid.
