Teach them young

I wish I could say that my kids love to clean up. I wish they cleaned their room and put their dishes in the sink, clothes in the hamper, etc. I have not trained them to do that very well. But when they have a new toy that they want, they will do chores to earn money. The easiest thing to have them do is the dishes. Terek always wants to do them because he sees the older boys do them. Gotta love that he wants to do it!!!!

So, tell me what kinds of chores I can have my kids do... besides dishes and laundry. What's a good idea?

Give them a baby wipe and have them clean your baseboards.
Bathroom mirrors and sliding glass doors are easy once you spray the cleaner on. Mating socks and putting pre-folded towels away are other things we do.

My mom would have us dust, take out the garbage, vacuum. I think that it is cute that Terek likes copying his brothers.

My kids do the bathroom mirrors and counters. I think soon (armed with rubber gloves) I'll have McK do the toilets, too. They sort laundry sometimes for me and dust and vacuum. Oh-and they are completely in charge of their own bedrooms. I'll help them, but they have to show me they're working hard to keep me in there. Good luck with your boys! It's so nice to finally have some help with the housework. :)

I like the baseboard idea. Terek looks so cute putting dishes away. I don't have any ideas - sorry. ;)

My little ones like to sweep off the porch, do mirrors, trash cans, feed and water the cat, and sort laundry into color piles for me. Good luck with this one. Jobs with kids are sometimes easier--without kids. Although we do have to teach them sometime. :)
