Tagg... may he rest in peace

Brenner got Tagg for his 5th birthday. He has been the best little pet and Brenner's best friend.

Hamsters are only supposed to live for 2-3 years. Tagg is 2.5 years. Sweet Tagg passed away today.
Brenner took it pretty hard. We had to go outside in the dark to bury him. May he rest in peace.

My mom has been wanting me to post this for awhile... and Libby was giving me a hard time about being a blog slacker.... so, here's a post for you:)

Brenner loves Tagg and he has him with him almost all the time. He carries him around on his shirt just like this. Sometimes Tagg actually crawls down inside. But most of the time you see his butt sticking out of Brenner's shirt. I think he lucked out to get such a tame, sweet hamster.

Pumpkins

a few weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch with Shellie and Legacy.
My rule has always been that they can't get a pumpkin that they can't pick up themselves.
Brenner is getting pretty tough and got a pretty big pumpkin.
He's just a cute little pumpkin:)
(side story.... Shellie took all of our pictures for us... because I forgot my camera. You see, I love my SLR, but it is big, so I don't like to carry it around. I have always had small camera that I can carry in my purse. I or one of the kids broke my little camera, so I have been doing without for awhile. Well, my sweet hubby spent his hard-earned money to buy me a cute pink camera so I don't miss any of these memorable moments any more!)
The rest of the story... we forgot to get a pumpkin for Tagg. So, Brenner insisted that we had back to the pumpkin patch after school last week to get Tagg a pumpkin. I don't know if Tagg could pick this pumpkin up by himself, but it was the smallest one we can find. Brenner says he's going to help Tagg carve it... I bet Tagg would love to eat it:)

Hamster Ball Derby

On Saturday, Tagg raced in a hamster ball derby at Petco.

He liked to stop and smell the roses a lot.... he liked to turn around and go backwards.
But Brenner was very proud of his hamster for winning 4th place! (there were only 4 hamsters participating)

The prodigal hamster has returned

As many of you may know, we lost Tagg last Wednesday night.  Brenner was "cooking" him in his pretend kitchen and left him there.  We tried to find and catch him before we went to st. george with no luck.  We got home tonight and when Ryan took the much appreciated meat from our parents downstairs to the freezer in the basement, he saw Tagg scurry across the floor.  We were able to quickly catch him and return him to his cage!!!:)

The little guy must have been quite hungry and thirsty because he drank tons from his water and the last time we checked on him he had his cheeks quite full of food... seriously they were huge!!!

We hope he can get used to us again after being wild for so long!!!

Hamster Obsession

So, the kitties next door are gone.... the neighbors gave them all away on KSL.  Now I don't have to have Joren up in the morning at 7:00 asking if can go to the neighbors and see the kitties.  And thanks for all the comments and help... I really didn't want a cat.

However, Joren has become quite obsessed with Tagg... Brenner's hamster.  He won't leave the poor thing alone.  He gets up first thing in the morning and runs downstairs to get him.  He carries him around everywhere.   Hopefully the poor thing lives through Joren.

Meet Tagg

Tagg is Brenner's new Chinese Dwarf Hamster.  He got him as an early birthday present (thanks for the money, Grandma & Grandpa Blake).

He's a cute little guy.  He's been a little nervous today, but he finally made himself a little nest in the tubes on the side of the cage.
